Glasgow Caledonian University has awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of the University to Enoch Adeyemi during its final summer graduation ceremony at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall.

Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, Enoch Adeyemi moved to the UK in 2003 and has established a successful career in financial services, holding senior roles with major organisations including Lloyds Banking Group, Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays and Aldermore Bank. A Fellow of ACCA and a Harvard alumnus, he founded Black Professionals UK in 2016, which has grown into an international network supporting thousands of professionals across Europe, Ireland and Australia.

Enoch also founded the Black Scottish Awards and has co-created initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, wellbeing and greater participation in sport among young people.

Addressing graduating students, he encouraged them to pursue purpose through action rather than waiting for opportunities. Reflecting on advice from a former teacher in Nigeria, he said his life’s journey had been about finding solutions to human problems.

He urged the new graduates to embrace the many possibilities ahead of them, reminding them that careers and ambitions can evolve beyond their degree subjects. Whether choosing a path in business, public service, sport or another field, he encouraged them to take bold steps towards discovering their purpose.

The honorary degree recognises Enoch Adeyemi’s outstanding contribution to leadership, community empowerment and creating opportunities for Black professionals and future generations.
