We use community broadcasting, digital media, creative learning, volunteering and cultural activity to increase representation and create opportunities for people and communities experiencing barriers to participation.
We have a particular commitment to African and Caribbean communities, refugees and New Scots, young people and other under-represented communities.
Jambo! Radio provides a platform where communities can participate in broadcasting, develop practical skills, share experiences and contribute to conversations about the issues that affect their lives.
We serve as a channel for people of African and Caribbean heritage in Scotland to encourage visibility, economic development, equality and social justice.
We broadcast in Swahili, Pidgin, Igbo, Yoruba, French and Lingala — to learn more about our African and Caribbean radio station, follow Jambo Radio on social media.
We also use advanced and innovative broadcast production processes and techniques to offer digital and employability skills to people in the communities.
Our mission is to amplify under-represented voices and use community broadcasting and creative media as tools for education, skills development, participation and positive social change.
We believe people should have opportunities not only to be represented in media but to develop the skills and confidence to create media themselves.
We therefore combine community broadcasting with practical training, volunteering, mentoring, work experience, digital skills development and community engagement.
Our vision is for a Scotland where people from all backgrounds can see and hear themselves represented, participate confidently in community life and access opportunities to develop their talents and aspirations.

The people and communities we serve help shape our work.
We listen through community conversations, participant feedback, listener engagement, surveys, volunteer meetings and direct involvement in programme development.
Community members participate as presenters, producers, contributors, volunteers, trainees and advisers.
Their experiences help us identify emerging needs, develop new programmes and improve existing activities.
This approach ensures that Jambo! Radio is not simply broadcasting to communities — we are creating broadcasting and opportunities with them.
Any income raised by Jambo! Radio Scotland supports the organisation's charitable purposes and the delivery and sustainability of our community activities.
Jambo! Radio Scotland is governed as a Scottish charity and does not operate for private profit.
Our priority is creating community benefit through broadcasting, education, skills development, volunteering, participation and access to opportunity.
