Black & White Festival 2026 Unites Generations and Cultures in Glasgow Celebration

June 15, 2026 by Jambo! Radio Scotland

The inaugural Black & White Festival, organised by Jambo! Radio, brought together hundreds of people from different cultures, age groups and backgrounds for a vibrant celebration of creativity, identity and community in Glasgow.

Held at the Refuweegee Centre from 12 to 13 June 2026, the two-day inclusive festival created a unique space where people of all races and generations could connect, learn and celebrate together. The event highlighted the importance of building stronger intergenerational relationships while showcasing the rich talents within Scotland’s diverse communities.

The festival as part of Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games Festival opened with a series of masterclasses designed to support new and emerging talent.

Participants had the opportunity to gain valuable insights from experienced creatives and industry professionals, helping to inspire the next generation of artists, broadcasters, writers and performers.

A major feature of the festival was its spotlight on talent, providing a platform for individuals to share their creativity with a wider audience. Visitors also enjoyed the popular Authors’ Corner, where writers discussed their work, shared personal stories and encouraged a love of literature and storytelling.

The celebrations concluded with an energetic programme of live performances, featuring music, spoken word and cultural expression that reflected the diversity and strength of the communities represented.

Supported by the Glasgow 2026 Festival Fund through Glasgow Life, the Black & White Festival has laid the foundations for what organisers hope will become one of Scotland’s leading inclusive cultural events.

Jambo! Radio believes the festival will continue to grow in the years ahead, serving as an important intergenerational platform for people of African and Caribbean heritage, people of mixed race, and the wider Scottish community to celebrate shared experiences, heritage and belonging.
