Jambo! Radio Launches New Inclusive Black & White Festival 2026 in Glasgow

May 16, 2026 by George Tah

This summer, as rising travel costs, airline disruptions, and uncertainty across parts of the Middle East encourage many people to holiday closer to home, Glasgow is preparing for a vibrant season of culture, creativity, and community celebration ahead of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

At the heart of that celebration is the new Black & White Festival 2026, an inclusive two-day creative festival organised by Jambo! Radio Scotland as part of the Glasgow 2026 Festival programme.

Taking place on 12–13 June 2026, the festival will spotlight undiscovered and emerging talent from Scotland’s ethnic minority communities while creating space for collaboration, networking, learning, and cultural exchange.

More information is available at Black & White Festival 2026

Day One will focus on empowerment, personal branding, and professional growth through a creative bootcamp featuring respected speakers and facilitators, including Oluyinka Omilani, Eloho Efemuai, and Colin McKeand. Discussions will explore strategic networking, confidence-building, storytelling, and creating opportunities in the creative industries.

Day Two transforms into a major showcase of music, spoken word, comedy, dance, fashion, and live performances featuring emerging and established creatives, including Jasicaesar, Ebuu Kanary, Mercy Mwenje, XOC4Real and more

Organisers say the festival is about more than entertainment. It is designed to create visibility for talented individuals whose work is often overlooked, while also inspiring young people and strengthening community connections through culture and creativity.

Hosted in Glasgow city centre, the festival aligns with the wider spirit of Glasgow 2026 by celebrating diversity, inclusion, and the contribution of African, Caribbean, and multicultural communities to Scotland’s cultural landscape.

The festival aims to empower underrepresented voices and highlight the rich tapestry of cultural influences that shape Scotland today. By fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation, it seeks to cultivate a space where aspiring artists can thrive and share their unique narratives. Attendees can expect a dynamic program that not only showcases talent but also promotes dialogue on the importance of inclusivity within the creative sector. This initiative underscores Jambo! Radio’s commitment to championing diversity and enhancing the community’s cultural fabric.
